Dr Mark Stranger
Mark Stranger is a Research Fellow with the project.
He has a PhD in sociology and a background in communications,
social research and project management.
His area of sociological expertise covers risk
and risk-taking in the context of contemporary social change, in
particular the changing nature of the self, identity and community
in ‘post’ or ‘late’ modernity and ‘risk
society’.
His research experience includes program evaluation,
social impact studies, and studies of environmentalism and organisational
change, youth and criminality, and risk-taking and identity construction.
Mark’s skills as a social researcher and
his experience in project management - both in the academic field
and in the public and private sectors - are of value to the team.
His expertise in the area of risk and social change theory provides
a critical focus for the project, particularly in relation to the
social construction of risks.
Mark is also Executive Director of the Centre for
Law and Genetics, jointly established by the Law Faculties of the
Universities of Tasmania and Melbourne.
